When you’re at the pool lounging on a beach chair and some little kids are running and the lifeguard screams out “no running” do you respond “excuse, not all of us are running”? No, you don’t. The lifeguard didn’t have to specifically state who they were talking to because you’re intelligent enough to comprehend that the comment wasn’t being directed at you.

Found a quote that shuts down that “not all men” argument pretty well. (via mykicks)

Charts from OKCupid, showing how straight women and men rate each other based on ages. For women, the men they find most attractive are roughly their own age. For men, the women they find most attractive are roughly the same age - 20 to 23 - regardless of the age of the man. (538)

this is disgusting

Keep in mind this isn’t a random data sample.

The bias is in the participants- think of a guy who is single at 50 and on okcupid.  He’s probably really creepy and not looking for marriage.  Men like this will seek younger women who don’t expect as much from men and aren’t as likely to look for commitment. Whereas a woman who is 50 is more likely to be looking for someone to actually date and/or marry, therefore looking for someone her own age.

Of course there are exceptions, but anyone who has been on okcupid knows that a lot those guys are really, really weird.  And shameless.  And generally no 22 year old girl is interested in hearing from a 50 year old guy. Their success rates are probably approaching 0.  A women who dates a man around her own age may be more likely to have a successful relationship.
